Action: Closes salmon fishing.

Effective date: July 13 through Aug. 2, 2022.

Species affected: Salmon.

Location: Marine Area 11

Reason for action: Estimates of landed catch to date indicate that 58% of the harvest quota (1,625 of 2,816) agreed to in this year’s List of Agreed Fisheries (LOAF) has been landed. Feedback from Puget Sound Sports Fishing Advisory Group and other members of the public indicated a desire to preserve Chinook fishing opportunity for August. Therefore, WDFW is suspending the fishery through Aug. 2 to preserve opportunity for later in the summer season.

Additional information: Marine Area 11 will reopen Wednesday, Aug. 3, on a Wednesday to Saturday schedule as listed in the 2022/23 Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.

Year-round fishing piers, Dash Point Dock, Des Moines Pier, Les Davis Pier, Point Defiance Boathouse Dock, and Redondo Pier remain open as listed in the 2022/23 Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.

To be informed of fishery rule changes as they are announced, anglers are encouraged to sign up for WDFW rule update emails at wdfw.wa.gov/about/lists .
